Sugar Cookies

Decoration technique by Yuki Mori
Some friends came over this weekend for lunch and cookie decorating. Yuki Mori showed how to make these beautiful cookies.

The technique used rolled fondant and texture mats. The mats were made by a company called Autumn Carpenter. Outlets for buying them can be found on their web site.

Texture mats give a sophisticated look
We also made heart cookies with the same fondant and
 texture mat technique.

I think I will try this for Halloween cookies. A chocolate
cookie with yellow and orange decorations should  be a
 nice combination.

Sugar Cookie Recipe
100 grams butter
90 grams sugar
1/2 egg
200 grams flour
1. In a bowl, soften the butter with a small whisk. Add the sugar and continue to mix with the whisk. Next add the egg.
2. Lastly add the flour in portions and mix with a spatula. Make sure all of the flour is fully mixed. Roll the mixture into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Let sit in the refrigerator for an hour or so before rolling out.
3. Roll out the dough to about 2 - 3 mm thick and cut with your favorite cookie cutter.
4. Bake at at 180 C. for 18 - 20 minutes depending on the size of your cookies.

Can always  use a few snacks for coffee time. Check the web for the Rice Krispie treats recipe. You'll have to wait for Yuki's book to get the recipe.
